SEO roles may focus on technical site health, content strategy, organic growth or app-store visibility. Check which properties and audiences the position owns. A technical role may work closely with engineering, while a content-focused role may depend on editorial planning and subject-matter expertise. Those responsibilities should come from the employer description.

Ask how the company measures organic performance and how it handles dependencies such as website releases, analytics and content production. Rankings alone do not explain business impact. Look for clarity around qualified traffic, conversion and the reporting expected from the role, without assuming any specific metric is part of an opening.
