Original employer description
Reproduced verbatim from the employer. Verify everything in this brief against the source text below.
Basis builds real agents that do real work in the real economy. Our agents operate for hours at a time, performing end-to-end work for some of the largest accounting firms in the world.
We recently raised $100M at >$1B valuation and are racing to deploy the most advanced applied ML at production scale.
Our investors include: Khosla Ventures (Keith Rabois & Vinod Khosla), Accel (Miles Clements), Google Ventures, Nat Friedman & Daniel Gross, Adam D'Angelo, Jeff Dean, Jack Altman, Noam Brown, Kyle Vogt, Amjad Masad, Clem Delangue and many other operators/technical leaders.
"Basis is on the frontier of building production-grade, long-horizon agents. They've pushed the limits of what we thought our models could do on real-world, economically valuable, complex accounting tasks. They've been a great collaborator in helping us shape what the future of agents looks like." — Prashant Mital, Applied AI Lead, OpenAI
In this role, you’ll be the founding owner of demand generation at Basis. You’ll build and define two go-to-market motions for our core ICPs: a vertical, low-TAM, white-glove motion for accounting firms and a large-TAM, horizontal motion for in-house finance teams.
Product-market fit established with two distinct ICPs is a rare starting point for demand gen leaders. Most founding roles ask you to build demand from scratch before product-market fit even exists. Here, you’ll be responsible for establishing our product-market-channel fit.
Basis’s eager buyers, powerful balance sheet, and customer love will give you a great experimentation ground to build a demand gen engine that brings in seven-figure deals.
You’ll be hands-on from day one and own full-funnel demand programs from strategy through execution: defining target audiences, finding intent signals, testing offers, launching campaigns, improving conversion paths, scaling the channels that produce high-quality opportunities, and deploying experiences to accelerate closed-won. This is not an MQL-volume role. We’re looking for someone who cares about pipeline quality, sales readiness, and learning quickly which messages, audiences, and motions create real demand.
You’ll work closely with the Head of Marketing, PMM, Content, Marketing Ops, Sales, BDRs, Partnerships, and Events to connect Basis’s category narrative to measurable pipeline. Your job is to make the demand engine work. As we scale, you’ll turn what works into repeatable playbooks for net-new lands, build our expansion motion, and help shape how the demand generation function grows.
This is a high-ownership role for someone who wants to build the demand engine at a fast-moving AI company selling into sophisticated, high-trust markets. You’ll need strong B2B demand generation instincts, technical curiosity, and the ability to operate well in ambiguity while prioritizing what matters most.
Location: NYC, Flatiron office. In-person team.
5–8 years of experience in B2B demand generation, growth marketing, revenue marketing, or a related role, ideally in high-growth software, AI, fintech, data, security, automation, or another technical product environment
A track record of building and running full-funnel campaigns that create qualified pipeline and help close deals
A clear point of view on marketing ops: the definitions, measurement, analytics, reporting, and insights a demand engine runs on
Strong experimentation instincts across audiences, offers, messaging, landing pages, lifecycle campaigns, paid and inbound programs, webinars, and account-based motions
Experience partnering closely with Sales and BDR/SDR teams to improve campaign follow-up, handoff quality, meeting conversion, and pipeline feedback loops
Fluency with marketing and revenue tools such as HubSpot, Salesforce, Google Analytics, Clay, ad platforms, enrichment tools, attribution and reporting systems, and intent data
Ruthless prioritization backed by analysis across funnel data, campaign performance, and qualitative sales feedback to decide what to scale, fix, or stop
A habit of evolving best practices and testing new approaches and tools as the technology shifts
Technical aptitude and curiosity; you do not need to come from AI or accounting, but you should be able to learn complex products quickly and market credibly to sophisticated buyers
A bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
The ability to work from our Manhattan office five days per week
Pipeline Ownership: Examples of programs you built that created measurable qualified pipeline, sales meetings, opportunities, or revenue
Inbound Demand Depth: Experience improving conversion from organic, paid, content, webinar, website, and lifecycle demand into qualified sales conversations
System That Compounds: Every campaign, template, and workflow shipped raises the floor for the next one, so the engine gets sharper each quarter instead of restarting from zero
Sales Partnership: A history of working closely with BDRs, AEs, or RevOps to improve lead quality, follow-up, routing, and conversion
Offer and Campaign Creativity: Experience testing sharp campaign concepts, reports, guides, calculators, workshops, webinars, executive briefings, or other offers that moved prospects from interest to action
Deep ICP Understanding: Examples of where you mapped an ICP deeply enough to deploy a nuanced program that generated real revenue
Two Working Motions: A high-touch ABM program serves strategic accounting firm accounts and a programmatic, education-led engine serves in-house finance buyers, each with clear metrics for what’s working
Pipeline Quality: Demand programs generate qualified opportunities with the right accounting firm and in-house finance buyers, not just lead volume
Repeatable Demand Engine: Campaign planning, launch, measurement, experimentation, and iteration run on a clear rhythm
Conversion Momentum: Campaigns, landing pages, webinars, nurture, and follow-up motions steadily improve the path from interest to sales conversation
Sales Alignment: BDRs and AEs have a tight feedback loop with marketing, clear campaign context, and follow-up motions that help them convert demand into pipeline
Channel Learning: Each buyer type has a documented picture of which audiences, messages, offers, and channels perform, with a clear plan for scaling the best of them
Cross-Functional Leverage: PMM, Content, Marketing Ops, Partnerships, Events, and Sales connect through a demand generation owner who turns company priorities into measurable pipeline programs
We offer a competitive and thoughtful benefits package designed to support your physical, mental, and financial well-being:
Health & Wellness: Premium Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage; Life Insurance; and 6 coaching & 6 therapy sessions through Spring Health.
Time off: Unlimited PTO + 12 paid company holidays.
In-Office Perks: Daily meal stipends, a fully stocked kitchen, and $300 toward your custom desk setup.
Financial Benefits: Pre-tax commuter benefits and 401(k) retirement plan
Team Culture: Monthly office activities and frequent optional team happy hours.
