Original employer description
Reproduced verbatim from the employer. Verify everything in this brief against the source text below.
Arena is the platform for evaluating how AI models perform in the real world. Founded by researchers from UC Berkeley's SkyLab, we're on a mission to measure and advance the frontier of AI for real-world use, and to build the foundation for everyone to understand, shape, and benefit from it.
Tens of millions of people use Arena each month to evaluate how frontier systems handle the work they actually do. The preferences they share power the most transparent, rigorous, and human-centered evaluations in AI. Leading AI labs, enterprises, and independent researchers rely on our work and open datasets to understand how models behave in real workflows: agentic coding, creative generation, professional productivity, and beyond. We go beyond leaderboards and decompose what human experience reveals about AI, so models advance toward the work people actually do.
We're a team of researchers, academics, builders, and creatives from UC Berkeley, Google, Stanford, and DeepMind. We seek truth, move fast, and value craftsmanship, curiosity, and impact over hierarchy. We're building a company where thoughtful, curious people from all backgrounds can do their best work together, in an office culture that radiates excellence, energy, and focus.
Arena is looking for a Senior Growth Marketing Manager, Email and Lifecycle to own how we engage our global user base. This is a role for someone who can run email campaigns end-to-end and has the instinct to build the systems underneath them. You'll shape and refine the user journey, designing data-driven lifecycle programs for millions of developers, researchers, and AI practitioners who interact with Arena's platform every day. Email is a high-potential growth channel for us, and you'll be the one to unlock it, building a high-performance engine that drives activation, retention, and long-term loyalty.
Sitting at the intersection of Marketing, Product, and Data, you'll own the full lifecycle stack including strategy, segmentation, automation, tooling, deliverability, and performance. You'll turn behavioral signals into automated workflows, partner with Product and Engineering to build scalable infrastructure powered by real-time in-product triggers, and run continuous experiments across content, timing, and frequency to compound improvements over time. You know the craft and you know the infrastructure, and you'll translate technical industry moments into content that keeps our community connected to the evolving AI landscape.
This is a high-ownership role at a growing, fast-moving company. You'll make consequential decisions early and see the impact of your work directly.

Write compelling, on-brand copy across all lifecycle touchpoints from developer digests to re-engagement sequences
Work cross-functionally with Product, Data, and Marketing to align lifecycle efforts with product launches and growth initiatives
5+ years of experience in lifecycle, email, or CRM marketing, ideally at a product-led growth or developer-focused company
Proven track record building and optimizing lifecycle programs that drive measurable improvement in activation, retention, and engagement
Strong copywriting skills, able to write clearly and compellingly for both technical and non-technical audiences
Hands-on experience with email and marketing automation platforms (e.g., Customer.io, Braze, HubSpot, or similar)
Data-driven approach: comfortable pulling your own data, running A/B tests, and translating results into actionable recommendations
Experience partnering with Product and Engineering to build and ship lifecycle infrastructure
Working knowledge of email deliverability, list hygiene, and compliance (CAN-SPAM, GDPR)
Experience marketing to developer, research, or technical audiences
Familiarity with the AI/ML landscape, enough to engage credibly with model releases, benchmarks, and evaluation concepts
Experience using AI tools and agents day-to-day to scale output, move faster, and push what's possible for the channel
